Its purpose is to assist trainees to reflect on experiences, promote critical thinking and connect these to their learning goals and professional development.

Observation captures

An observation capture is a work-based assessment that involves a structured process where trainees demonstrate their knowledge and skills in real-time workplace situations, while assessors observe and evaluate performance.

Its purpose is to assess skill development, track progress, and provide targeted feedback for improvement.

Progress reports

A progress report is an assessment that documents trainees’ and supervisors’ assessment of trainee progress against the training program learning goals over a period of training.

Rotation progress reports

Rotation progress reports are completed by a Rotation Supervisor. Its purpose is to assess knowledge and skill development, track progress against the phase criteria, and provide targeted feedback for improvement.

Interim manual progress reports, available to download through the program specific links below, can be used until the Progress Report functionality is made available in TMP later in 2025.

Mid and end-of phase progress reports (for Basic Training only)

Mid and end-of-phase progress reports are completed by an Education Supervisor and trainee at the middle and end of a phase.

Until progress reports are available in the TMP, Basic Trainees and Education Supervisors may use this hard copy Phase progress report for mid-2025 progress review meetings.

Once progress reports are available in TMP, Basic Trainees and Education Supervisors must complete the phase progress report in TMP. It is is recommended to submit the report as early as possible, however, it will be accepted up until the end of the training year.

Please note that the phase progress report must be completed in TMP for progress review panels to access assessment data to make trainee progression decisions.

This hard copy report does not need to be submitted to the College.
