Assessments

The new Basic and Advanced Training programs have a suite of new work-based learning and assessment tools, supported by the Training Management Platform (TMP).

See the relevant Basic or Advanced Training curricula to find more on your respective program requirements.

Learning captures

A learning capture is a work-based assessment that involves a trainee capturing and reflecting on professional development activities. This includes evidence of work-based learning linked to specified learning goals.

Why it's used:
  • help trainees reflect on experiences
  • promote critical thinking
  • link experiences to their learning goals and professional development

See the relevant Basic or Advanced Training curricula to find more information, including frequency and submission deadlines. A learning capture information pack is also available.

Observation captures

An observation capture is a work-based assessment that involves a structured process where trainees demonstrate their knowledge and skills in real-time workplace situations, while assessors observe and evaluate performance.

Why it's used:
  • assess skill development
  • monitor progress against training phase goals
  • provide feedback for improvement

See the relevant Basic or Advanced Training curricula to find more information, including frequency and submission deadlines. An observation capture information pack is also available.

Progress reports

Progress reports track how trainees are progressing towards their learning goals over time. Both trainees and supervisors contribute to these reports.

Why it's used:
  • assess knowledge and skills
  • monitor progress against training phase goals
  • give feedback for improvement
